CEA President Margaret Iuculano’s Op-Ed Featured in the Townhall
In a Townhall column published Jan. 16, 2026, Margaret Iuculano argues that women’s sports are more than extracurricular activities – they are a key training ground for leadership, confidence, and resilience that many women later rely on in careers and public life.
Iuculano focuses on two cases argued at the U.S. Supreme Court – Little v. Hecox and State of West Virginia v. B.P.J. – which involve state laws that restrict participation in girls’ and women’s sports based on sex. She contends those laws are necessary to preserve fair competition, safety, and privacy, and she criticizes the ACLU’s position as effectively undermining women’s sports as a meaningful category.
Writing as the president of Christian Employers Alliance, Iuculano notes she joined an amicus brief supporting Idaho and West Virginia. She frames the dispute as a broader test of “biological reality” and urges the Court to uphold the state protections.
“As reported by National Review, one UN study found that ‘over 600 female athletes in more than 400 women’s division events across 29 different sports were defeated by transgender-identifying men. Male athletes have taken over 890 medals from female athletes.’”
