New congressional rankings measure how each state’s delegation aligns with biblically based principles.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Christian Employers Alliance (CEA), which engages a network of more than 30,000 faith-based employers across all 50 states — including many of the nation’s largest faith-based organizations — today released the 2026 Edition of its Congressional Biblical Business Index.
Compared to the previous Congress, Alaska (+14), Montana (+11), West Virginia (+10), North Carolina (+7), and Vermont (+6) saw the largest increases in biblical voting alignment. These gains reflected support for policies including stronger protections for the unborn, opposition to taxpayer funding for transgender and LGBTQ policy agendas, enhanced law-and-order measures, and economic policies designed to help faith-based businesses thrive.
The states with the largest drops in biblical alignment were Alabama (-10), Louisiana (-6), Iowa (-4), Florida (-4), and Connecticut (-4).
“Too often, business rankings focus only on taxes and regulations,” said Margaret Iuculano, President of Christian Employers Alliance. “These rankings are designed to help faith-based business leaders make informed decisions about where to invest, grow, and create jobs by showing business leaders where states are trending both economically and socially. They highlight where faith-based employers can most freely operate according to their religious beliefs, and where lawmakers are most consistently voting in alignment with biblical principles.”
CEA is also bringing its Biblical Business Index to the state level. To date, CEA has conducted extensive legislative analyses in 12 states, tracking how lawmakers in state legislatures adhere to biblical and limited-government principles. The organization plans to continue expanding the first-of-its-kind initiative with the goal of evaluating nearly 8,000 federal and state lawmakers across America.
