WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Christian Employers Alliance (CEA), representing thousands of mission-aligned businesses and ministries nationwide, issues the following statement in response to President Trump’s State of the Union address and the proposed “Great Healthcare Plan.”
Statement from CEA President Margaret Iuculano:
“The Christian Employers Alliance enthusiastically commends the administration for proposing a healthcare model that restores the fundamental biblical principle of stewardship to the American family. For too long, the current system has prioritized ‘Big Insurance’ intermediaries over the sacred relationship between the patient, the provider, and the employer.
The President’s plan to redirect payments away from large insurance conglomerates and directly into the hands of the American people is a transformative shift toward Economic and Healthcare Freedom. By empowering individuals to purchase their own healthcare, the administration is fostering a competitive marketplace that inherently drives down costs while increasing the quality of care.
Furthermore, the requirement for maximum price transparency is a vital step toward a more honest and ethical marketplace. Scripture reminds us that ‘the Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight’ (Proverbs 11:1). In an industry often clouded by hidden costs and bureaucratic opacity, mandatory transparency ensures that employers and families can make informed, value-based decisions without being subjected to quiet coercion or predatory pricing.
This proposal aligns seamlessly with CEA’s mission to protect the Healthcare Freedom of mission-aligned leaders. By bypassing the ‘Big Insurance’ gatekeepers, we can more effectively ensure that no Christian employer is forced to fund services that violate their sincerely held religious beliefs. We look forward to working with the administration to see this vision of a transparent, patient-centered, and biblically aligned healthcare system become a reality for all Americans.”
